Apple have released the latest update to the macOS operating system Sonoma https://www.apple.com/macos/sonoma/
Whilst there are many sites that describe compatibility with common applications it is often difficult to find information on scientific applications.

Scientific Applications
I’ve contacted all developers I know and their responses to date are shown below, first impressions are this is a relatively benign update
alvaScience all our tools support MacOS Sonoma.
Amsterdam Modeling Suite seems to run fine.
Anaconda Anaconda3 installed without problems.

AutoDock Vina The 64 bit version is expected to work on Mac OS X 10.15 (Catalina) and newer.
BBEdit The following versions of our products are provisionally recommended for use with macOS 14 “Sonoma”: BBEdit 14.6.7, Yojimbo 4.6.3. BBEdit versions prior to 14.6 will not run on macOS Sonoma.

Bruker Topspin 4.2.0 works
ChemAxon Most of our software in general requires Java, so as long as the appropriate Java version is installed, there should be no problem.
ChemDraw 22 All working as expected
ChemDoodle The latest versions of ChemDoodle 2D (v12) and ChemDoodle 3D (v7) are fully supported on macOS 14 Sonoma (released 9/26/2023) and there are no known issues. https://www.ichemlabs.com/news/read?post=macos_14_support
ChimeraX Open the downloaded DMG file and drag ChimeraX to your Applications folder. Includes native versions for M2, M1 and Intel Macs. Works on macOS 10.15 and newer.

Cresset no issues whatsoever with Flare or Spark
CrystalMaker In common with other developers, we’ve seen some minor OpenGL on Apple Silicon machines. It doesn’t affect the operation of the software and I suspect this is an Apple bug that will get fixed soon.
DataWarrior All seems to be working fine.
DeltaGraph We are currently preparing for the 64 bit version of DeltaGraph Mac. However, at this time we cannot announce our plans or a possible release date.

Gaussaian installation using Home-brew seems to be working fine.

Graphpad Prism Requires update to v10.0.3
Homebrew Seems to work fine, remember to reinstall Xcode command line tools.
iBabel no issues reported
Igor Pro WaveMetrics is not working on an ARM port and have no concrete plan to do so.
ImageJ2 2.9.0 works
iNMR version 7 supports 10.11 or higher
JalView as long as the appropriate Java version is installed, there should be no problem.
KaleidaGraph v5 will run on OS 10.14 or later and supports the M1/M2 chip.
KNIME We know of two non-blocking issues that are Eclipse-related: https://forum.knime.com/t/bug-in-v5-1-1-when-upgrading-to-macos-sonoma/73014. The name of the app is incorrect and the splash screen is upside down. Apart from these two, we are not aware of anything.
Manuscripts no issues reported
MATLAB is compatible with macOS 13 (Ventura) and macOS (Sonoma) and as of R2023b, MATLAB runs natively on Apple silicon. Macs. https://uk.mathworks.com/support/requirements/matlab-mac.html

Python Python 2.7 is no longer included – use Python 3 instead. Python works fine on Apple Silicon and is “mad fast!”.

Samson We have used SAMSON on Sonoma and haven’t observed any issues related to the OS update.
Schrodinger macOS Sonoma is the latest release of Apple’s operating system and we have started testing the Schrodinger suite. We plan to support macOS 14 (Sonoma) for our next release 23-4.

SPSS Apple released macOS 14.0 (Sonoma) on September 26th, 2023. The SPSS Statistics Development team is actively testing this release of macOS with our IBM SPSS Statistics products. Adding macOS 14.0 (Sonoma) as one of our supported platforms is a high priority item and an IF is estimated to be delivered on Friday, October 13th, 2023.
