Avogadro is a free and open source molecular editor and visualization tool. The new release of Avogadro 2, is a major update, and includes major changes, a revised interface, and new features.
Avogadro v2 was designed for fast modern rendering and improved stability. It is a platform to make it easy to build the next generation of molecular and materials visualization and editing tools.
One of the issues for previous versions was stability, particularly when rendering large systems. This has now been addressed with this update
