PDB reaches a quarter of a million structures

The Protein Data Bank is an invaluable resource for protein structural information. As well as being a resource used by structural biologists, medicinal chemists and biochemists it was of course the essential starting point for all the AI/ML derived structure prediction algorithms such as Alphafold.

At the time typing this post there are 250,741 structures in the data bank and it is doubling in size every 6-8 years, and 20,000 were deposited in 2025.
